The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major effect on us. Many of us are facing challenges that can be stressful, devastating, and cause heavy emotions. Rules such as social distancing are necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19, but they can make us feel isolated and lonely and can increase stress and anxiety. Learning to cope with stress in a healthy way will make you and the people you care about become more resilient.
It is natural to feel stress, anxiety, grief, and worry during the COVID-19 pandemic. How to deal with those tough emotions is the question a lot of people ask.
Artistic Ways To Cope With The Pandemic
Paint to music. Painting with music is a great way to relax and turn off the world for some time. An interesting fact is that colors in paintings represent different moods and feelings and music can affect your color choice, so put on your favorite playlist and see what feelings it will evoke in you.
Work on a "soft project". Create a work of art using only soft or comforting objects. For example, it can be a teddy bear. Soft, cuddly objects can be very soothing. You can also use this project to create an animal that means something to you.
Think of a wild invention. This invention should do something that could make you really happy at that moment, no matter what that is. It can be a hugging machine or a fridge that walks directly to your bed when you are too lazy to go to the kitchen. Although we do not recommend that one :D
Use natural materials. Leaves, sticks, dirt, clay and other natural materials can help you get in touch with nature and the more primal side of yourself. It is especially beneficial to young people – it helps promote self-confidence, encourages self-expression, and develops problem-solving skills.
REMEMBER: Let yourself be free. Do not judge your work. Your artwork represents your unique, hidden self and emotions. Embrace that person and connect with them. After all, there’s no way to fail and no right way to make art!
